Installment 4: High-Speed Connection?

Hello again guys and girls. So lovely to be writing again, and I am so sorry that this is being published late. Have been at the hospital, but dont worry, I am OK! 😀

Ok, so this week I will be discussing speed dating, and the success of two people whom I was lucky enough to interview this week. They are such a lovely couple, and they have been together for 3 years, after meeting at a local event to them. I began by asking them (we will call the woman A, and her other half B) what expectations they had before going to the event.

A: Well, I didn’t think much of it really! I was only going because a friend of mine was going and needed some support.

B: Ah, I only went for a laugh. I didn’t believe you could get to know someone and make a judgement within the allowed 90 seconds.

These answers are telling, as they both identify that they almost fell into speed dating. Neither were actively seeking to take part. Unyet, they ended up in the right place at the right time, and just by talking to them you can see how in love they are.

Next, I asked about the crucial 90 seconds that you get to chat to the person opposite you.

B: Its crazy! you would think that it would be easier to have a few questions stored to ask the person to gain some insight. but you soon cancel that because they have questions too!

A: I don’t think I ever had a 90 seconds where both me and the guy had concluded chatting. The bell always went half way through a question.

This to me seems worrying. Here is an experiment for you, find another person, and set a timer for 90 seconds. see how much you can chat about in that time. Invariably, you don’t get very much said, and that is when you already know the person. So you know their history and their personality etc. However, here it seems that it is made even harder by the fact that you know absolutely nothing about this person except the way they physically present themselves in front of you. The conversation then turned to how they knew that it was a success.

A: I instantly knew that this guy sat in front of me was the One. He was dressed great, and I fell in love with his shoes and that got us chatting about something other that what jobs we have and stuff like that.

(Blogger’s Note: I have seen said shoes, and I must say, they are a spectacle…. custom made and custom designed converse…… craziness).

B: She had this…. I don’t know….. glow about her. I had see her from the bar before the rounds began, and even then she caught my eye. I don’t know what it was because she was laughing like a donkey at the time with her friend.

It is funny, when you compare the two answers here. He gives their story a comical edge, and she sees it through rose tinted glasses. This in itself is interesting, However they both seem to be at peace with their own weirdiness (not a word, I know). But they both see that neither of them is perfect, and this seems to bring them closer together.

Later on in the chatter, they mention that they want to give my readers a piece of advice. They say that love can be found in the weirdest places, and that you often end up in these types of situations when you least expect it. So they wanted to say that if you are currently single- don’t look too hard. Because you might be so focused that you have tunnel vision and miss all the other things going on around you!

So that concludes this week’s blog post. I hope you have enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed doing the research for this one. It has been a fun week. So, next week, I have no idea what I am going to be posting about, but as soon as I know, I will be posting on all the usual places to let you know. Thank you for reading, and don’t forget to share this blog with your friends and family.

Thank you! C. x
